Work-at-Home SCAMS!!!
As most of us know...there is, was and always will be unscrupulous, dishonest companies and individuals in our society. Please be aware that many work-at-home programs are NOT legitimate!
This is a sad fact for companies like ours, where a work-at-home program actually works and makes sense and is the best way for our company to offer quality, handcrafted jewelry, made in the USA. At the same time offering a fair legitimate opportunity for an individual like yourself. (Click here to read more about why we use at-home vs. in-house employees)
Here's what to look for when searching out a work at home job:
- First and foremost when you come across a work from home program, does it make sense...is there really a market for the product? Is what they are making something that could actually be worked on at home?
- If something looks too good to be true, it probably is.
- We've all seen them, sites that promise riches beyond your wildest dreams...show you what you can have, but never really tell you how to get it. Any company that claims to make you rich, earning unreasonable amounts of money (like $1,000's a day) well, it's probably not true.
- If the company does not tell or show you exactly what you will be doing to earn money, then it's probably a scam.
- If a website goes on and on about what you can do with all the money you make, but never tells you how you will make it, then it's probably a scam.
- If the company wants you to pay them money to learn how to work-at-home, that's probably a scam.
- Does the company have contact info, physical address, phone.
- Does the company tell/show you what you will be making for them?
- Do they tell you what you will be using to make the product with?
- Do they charge a fee? If so, it's probably a scam.
However, if a security deposit is collected...does it make sense? Will the company actually be sending you materials of value (i.e. If you're asked to put down a deposit for paper, it's probably a scam.)
Make sure the deposit is completely refundable...this way there is no risk to you.
Do you have to pay for shipping? The company should always pay for shipping supplies and reimburse for the cost of shipping finished goods back to them. The exception to this is when an employee wants a faster shipping method (i.e. express, priority) in this case the company should not have to pay for the added expense, if they offer a free shipping method.
