FAQs
1. What is a Lot?
A lot is equal to 4 bracelet sets, each bracelet set is comprised of two bracelets each made in a slightly different style. So, a lot of bracelets is equal to eight (8) total bracelets; four (4) of style #1 and (4) of style #2.
2. What/How do I get paid?
We pay you $120 per lot (or $15 per bracelet) and up to a $6 shipping reimbursement. Paydays are every Tuesday, so we'll pay you the first Tuesday after we have reviewed your work. Payments can be made by check (sent US mail) or for immediate payment we can send to a PayPal account. Please complete the Payout Form before sending back your work. Thank you.
3. Why only $6 for the shipping reimbursement?
This is more than enough to cover even priority shipping back to us (which US mail ensures will ship in 2-3 days.)
4. How long does it take me to make a lot?
You should be able to finish a lot within one full work day. Of course it will take you a bit longer for the first few bracelets, until you get the rhythm down...but, after a bit of practice can finish in 8-10 hours, or faster...it all really depends on how many breaks you take.
5. How much time do I have to make a lot?
Of course you don't have to make a lot in one day. Many of our crafters work part time, so we allow you one full month to finish each lot.
6. Why do I have to submit a full lot to get paid?
We feel this is fair as it's only 8 bracelets ...if we have 1-2 bracelets coming in all the time it would be too difficult to manage our inventory.
7. What happens if something comes up and I don't have time to finish my lot in a month?
We have an Extension Request form...although, finishing a lot in one month should really not be a problem.
8. Why do I have to pay $65 to work for you?
The $65 is NOT a fee, it is a security deposit...which we must collect to protect our investment of both time and supplies which we provide to you. We keep your deposit on file until you either finish 15 lots (at which time we refund your deposit and let you keep your tools as a thank you gift for your work so far) OR until you decide that you no longer wish to work for us.
9. Is the security deposit refundable?
Yes, the security deposit is 100% refundable. However, if you return your tools/supplies without finishing a lot, we will not cover your shipping and if the materials are returned in poor or damaged condition we may use some of out deposit to replace the items. As long as you return everything in good condition we'll refund all of your deposit.
10. How do I get more supplies?
Each time you return a finished lot, you'll have these three options:
1) We'll immediately ship out more supplies for you to work on.
2) We can refund your deposit, if you wish to no longer work for us.
3) If you want to take a break/vacation, we'll wait and send you more supplies whenever you are ready to resume work.
11. How many lots can I make at one time?
Initially we send you enough supplies to make 1 lot and If you wish to start off making more, we'll need to hold additional deposit (as our wire is quite expensive.) This however is not necessary, because after submitting a few lots we are happy to send out more supplies per request and the longer you work for us the more supplies we'll send you at a time (preferably no more than 5 lots per request, but this depends on your work history with us.)
12. How difficult is it to learn how to make the bracelets?
Our chain making technique has been used for 1000's of years. It's a very simple method, basically you will be looping thin pieces of wire around a metal rod. The process is the same for both styles, just a few slight variations and difference in length. You are not required to make any clasps, and upon finishing the chain you will only need to insert a piece of wire through the chain and create a loop at each end.
13. What kind of training will I get?
We have online training and instruction, comprised of numerous full color pictures and diagrams, showing you step-by-step visual and written examples of exactly what you'll need to do.
14. What if I don't make the jewelry correctly?
If we receive work that is made incorrectly we'll either send back for you to fix (along with more supplies and a detailed description/pictures of what you'll need to do) -OR- if it's something we can easily fix, we'll ask if you'd rather accept a slightly lower payout in exchange for us to make the corrections ...basically, we do our best to work with you.
15. How often do you return work?
This is handmade jewelry, so we know every piece is going to be slightly different and that's okay...we just need to make sure the work will be acceptable to our buyers. It's actually pretty rare that we receive unacceptable work. You will have numerous pictures showing how to make the bracelets and what they look like...so, you'll know upfront if you are having problems making the work correctly and when this happens you can contact us for help.
We are also happy to review your work at anytime. Because jewelry is small and easy to ship, you can simply send us a sample of your work so we can confirm that it's being made correctly.
16. Do I need anything else to work for you?
We send out all the tools and supplies you'll need...but, we do ask you provide something to measure your wire with and a soft cloth or paper towel to wipe and smooth out the wire.
17. What kind of working space do I need?
Hardly any space at all...actually, you don't even need a table (although it is easier to have a small place to keep your tools.) Many of are crafters like to watch TV while they make bracelets!
18. What if I return my job materials before finishing a lot?
Due to the time and costs associated with sending our tools and supplies out to each crafter, we may keep a 25% (or more if items are damaged) restocking fee for returning job materials without completing a lot of bracelets.
19. How long have you been in business?
We have been making and selling jewelry for over 5 years now. However, it's been just recently (2010) that our titanium and stainless steel line really took off! We just couldn't keep up with the orders, which is why we started hiring independent contractors just like yourself to work at home.
20. What if I live outside of the United States?
Due to tax reporting and the additional shipping expense, at this time we are only offering work to residents of the United States. If you live in Canada or another location outside of the U.S. please email us at; work@titanchains.com and we'll let you know if we find a similar job in your location.
21. Can I sell the jewelry myself?
If you would like to make and sell Titan Chains for yourself (and earn an even higher pay) you can use our designs, training and instructions to do so. You can even use our tools to make your own jewelry while working for us (as long as you don't damage them.) However, you will you need to purchase your own supplies. You can purchase the same jewelry supplies that you use while working for us at: www.titansupplysite.com
